Scarampi Palace

Some documents of the 11th century prove that here there was a castle, but today no visible traces of it remain. In 1225 a “new tower” was built and in 1277 an act was signed within the walls of the existing building. It first belonged to local lords, then to the City of Alba and then to the Carretto Marquises. Badly damaged and conquered by the Savoy troops in 1703, became property of the Savoy State in 1726 with the assignment of the so called “Imperial feuds”. The existing Scarampi Palace was built by the Carretto Marquises after 1706 on the same site of the old manor and restructured in 1833.
