“Cappella della Madonna Assunta” (Chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption) of Bussia hamlet

The chapel rises on the top of a small wooded hill. The old building, that had been built on land subject to landslides not far from the new one, started to subside in 1872. The bell tower collapsed because of a widening made for the construction of a new bell tower. The new chapel was rebuilt on another more stable site (according to the local tradition, the Virgin Mary herself chose the place). The annexed primary school building was solemnly opened on the 24th of November by the Duke of Pistoia with S.A.R. (on His Majesty behalf).
